Album Review: Elation // Mikael Delta

Mikael Delta is the stage name of Greek electronica musician Michalis Diamantopoulos. His previous album ‘Life is Now’ was emotional because it had a lot of fresh ambient beats and strings, combining it with samples of Athens’ Metro line. He released his latest album ‘Elation’ in November. It is a beautiful record, mixing euphoria and vulnerable sounds.

‘Elation’ is well produced because the analogue sounds work well with the samples. ‘At the Old Airport’ incorporates a cello and fast cymbals, while the synths are euphoric.

There are some creative patterns which keep the listener interested throughout. ‘3am Thunder’ makes you feel like you’re sitting in the rain, allowing you to think clearly. Michalis is brilliant at this because he combines natural sounds with soft instruments. This works well because it brings an organic approach to his music.

‘Elation’ is great because it has a lot of euphoric bits. It builds on his previous work because you hear new things with every listen. If you like ambient music, you’re going to love this.
