Album Review: For The Fallen Dreams // For The Fallen Dreams
I first heard For the Fallen Dreams in 2014 when I started getting into metalcore. They struck me with their heaviness but also their hard hitting lyrics on suicide and loss. They were a staple during my final year at uni. I am looking forward to listening to their new album.
We have an opening riff that knocks my face off in “RE: Animate”. This is like the For the Fallen Dreams of old. The chorus is ridiculous and has plenty of power. “Last One Out” is very good too; a radio friendly Linkin Park-esque chorus drives things on. It combines a heavy guitar with beautiful vocals.
You’d have thought that For the Fallen Dreams would have mellowed out, but their guitars are brutal while their melodies soar above the clouds. Especially on “No Heaven” the feelgood chorus is fantastic. I’ve listened to this album a few times, and I think it has the right balance of their unique sound and where they want to be. It is a solid effort.
