Urban Voodoo Machine

Consider this: a nine-piece London-based band with drummers, fiddles, saxophones, accordions, and some crazy makeup to boot. Led by Norwegian-born lead vocalist and songwriter Paul-Ronney Angel, the Urban Voodoo Machine is described as Bourbon-drenched gipsy blues with some bop ‘n’ stroll. Having hit all the major festivals in past years, the Urban Voodoo Machine will be playing at 8:15 pm at Dingwalls.

We’re looking forward to seeing our Scottish brothers in Twin Atlantic and The LaFontaines, as well as many more such as SHVPES, Bad Sign and a band we’re digging at the moment, called The Faim – being Fireballs Hottest band we’ll need to fire over to the Ballroom and get stuck into some whisky, their stage is awesome!!

Is there any band you want to see that you’ll be forced to miss this year?

Dean is gutted that he’s going to be missing Derren Brown this December when we’re away on Fireball’s Fuelling the Fire tour with Flogging Molly and Face To Face. He’s a big fan. Aside from that we, unfortunately, have clashing stage times with Crazy Town this weekend and would seriously have loved to have seen them!

Who would you recommend for next year?

One of the best bands we’ve played within the last year was Sweet Little Machine. They’re a pop-punk band that hail from Sheffield that delivers an unbelievable live show, and they know how to rile up a crowd and get the whole venue bouncing. We’ve learned a lot from them in the last year or so and can’t recommend them enough, so make sure you check them out as soon as you can – they have big plans for next year!

There is literally a band here for everyone, so you’re absolutely guaranteed a good time no matter what!

At The Sun

Just because they released their debut EP in 2017 doesn’t mean that these heavy rockers from the UK should be overlooked. At The Sun is a five-piece group blending a love for metal, classic rock and blues to enchant their audience. No gimmicks, tricks or fancy fakeness (hey, it makes sense to us!), Harry, Alex, Kieran, Chet and Craig will be entertaining music-lovers at 3pm at The Dev.

It’s 200 bands on one day, in one part of London. Where the hell else can you get all that for £40?? We recommend that people only plan their day loosely -if you try and pack it too tightly you may miss some amazing new acts. We are planning to split our time 50/50 between acts we know and love and some new acts. We’ll be picking them based on bar prices! haha!

Hollowstar

Hollowstar Formed back in 2015, Cambridgeshire lads Joe Bonson, Phil Haines, Jack Bonson and Tom Collett, began crafting a unique rock sound influenced by bands such as Black Stone Cherry, Thunder and Slash; hence, Hollowstar was born. I’m really looking forward to seeing PIL this year. I’ve always been a huge John Lydon fan growing up. I was in love with the Pistols as a kid but I really loved where he took it with PIL “anger is an energy” is a crazy but wonderful mantra.

Also, October Drift will be great, there a great live band, really powerful. We’ve played with them in the past and it was a top gig. Nice lads too which always helps.

Glossii

Glossii is a four piece rock/post punk band created around South London in early 2017 by Charlie Lock and Guitarist Lewis Smith, along with vocalist Sofia Zanghirella and latest joining member, drummer Reuben Rost. Glossii’s hard-hitting riffs and bursts of aggression create the ubiquitous back-beat for Sofia’s femme-fatale lyrical insight- reminiscent of other bands such as Wolf Alice and Garbage with a detection and a nod to the original allure of Blondie’

INDYA

When you can’t decide on a name for a band, why not just name the group after yourself? Well, that’s what Natalie Indya West did when she formed the female-fronted glam rock band INDYA. Hailing from Brighton, Natalie West, Oz Marshall, Save Blackjack and Joel Day, have defined a unique sound that is dark, mysterious, energetic and sensually alluring. Natalie’s voice is often compared to Joan Jett, but you can make your own mind up by seeing them perform at The Black Heart at 1:30pm.

I’m also looking forward to seeing Hands Off Gretel & Blood Red Shoes. Bexatron are friends of Indya and we love their music so of course, we are going to be watching them. I love the female fronted bands because I’m a huge supporter of women in the rock Industry. I like to be empowered by the female touch & align with the different genres of their music. They are inspiring to me.

We are huge fans of Via Dolorosa but they are on the crossover with us so we won’t have time to see them play, unfortunately. But we wish them the best of luck! Gutted.

For next year I would highly recommend the Rocket Dolls. They are friends of ours in the industry and one of the best bands going to date.
