Nexus Meets… Michael Lane

Based in Germany, Michael Lane is an indie-folk artist who embraces the positive and enjoys the present. We speak with this talented artist about his single ‘Moment’, the official music video and much more!

Can you tell us the backstory to ‘Moment’?

I wanted to write a song about connecting with your inner child. Children are by nature always living in the present moment, not worried about next week or what happened four months ago. I wrote a song to reflect the peaceful nature of a child’s spirit.

What was the writing and recording process like for the single?

I wrote the lyrics during the recording process. I usually start with guitar and work my way up from there.

What can you tell us about the official music video for ‘Moment’?

It was so lovely making the video for ‘Moment’. Everything happened so naturally. I didn’t even need a script!

What inspired the music video?

Ultimately, the backstory inspired the music video. What better way to convey the message of being in the moment than with children playing.

What advice would you give emerging artists who are looking to enter the music industry?

Work hard and stay focused. Don’t be afraid to get inspired by other musicians who are already doing a good job.

How would you describe your music?

My music is very organic with most instruments being recorded naturally, with the exception of an acoustic upright bass every now and then. Atmospheric and dreamy.

Do you have any future plans?

I have lots of cool songs lined up ready to be released come spring. I’m really looking forward to the releases and hope to record some new stuff along the way.
