Welsh nu metallers CELAVI are back with a new song, called “BITE MY TONGUE” and it will be interesting to see what it will be like. Will it have the same biting infectious riffs as earlier single “STAIN?” We shall see. The good news is that it is a pretty solid effort. The catchy synths combine well with the bouncy guitars, while the vocals recall Wargasm. The pause before the chorus offers a bit of time to breathe, and then the chorus hits you. I didn’t know that the song was produced by Romesh Dodangoda (Sylosis, Bring Me the Horizon), but that helps bring out the heaviness and chunky riffs.

“BITE MY TONGUE” is about the frustration of trying to get your voice heard, which is something I can relate to all too well personally. The chorus “Bite my tongue, until my words bleed out / I spill my guts / I’ll wipe the grit from everybody’s damn eyes” is sung with a soft vocal, but the heavy guitars create a beautiful juxtaposition. I think that CELAVI are a band who set themselves apart in the modern metal scene, and this can only be a good thing. They know how to blend hard hitting riffs with stunning choruses, resulting in “BITE MY TONGUE” being a banger of a track.
