Track Review: Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5 // Ted Dancin’
Combine The Stone Roses with Primal Scream and a bit of Happy Mondays thrown into the mix and you’d probably have something close to Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5. However, they are rather unique with a distinctive style, so that combination might be completely off the mark…either way, Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5 are here, they’re awesome and they need to be heard!
Describing themselves as “the shiny disco ball hat wearing, ultimate genre-hopping, twisted festival, live stage machine that puts the emphasis on music, entertaining and laughter”, Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5 are energetic, exciting and have a pretty good idea of exactly what they are. In addition to being good streaming ear-candy, they have an extensive gig history having performed in Ireland, the UK and even Korea (twice!). The latest addition to this Glasgow-based group is the single ‘Ted Dancin”.
Released on Button Up Records, Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5 release their single ‘Ted Dancin”. A follow up to ‘G.T.’ released earlier this year, ‘Ted Dancin” is just under four minutes of upbeat, high-paced and sometimes frenzied indie-rock. A homage to American comedy actor Ted Danson, the song poses the question: ‘why do we dance?’ You may not know the answer to that question just now, but after the catchy track you’ll be dancin’ regardless of whether you know why you’re doing it!
An irritatingly addictive song, Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5 have me hooked and I doubt I’ll get ‘Ted Dancin” out of my head any time soon. I bet if Ted Danson heard ‘Ted Dancin” he’ll find himself boogieing around the room.
