Track Review: God’s Little Punching Bag // YNES

“God’s Little Punching Bag” is the brand new single from Coventry musician YNES. The song is out now on GRRRL GROAN. It’s an absolute anthem about resilience and embracing the worst that life has to throw at you, delivering blow after blow in every lyric. YNES lists every insult people have thrown at her and then sings: “Just don’t call me ever again” in defiant response.

The song is uplifting and empowering. I think the songwriting is so strong because the passionate vocal delivery gives off a confident aura. It reminds me of Britpop but also has its own style. The chorus is easy to sing along to, showing why YNES is one to look out for in the future.
