Track Review: Hold the Line // Third Lung

In a world where there are more big questions and we don’t always know what to believe in, Third Lung are back with a ray of hope. The alternative four-piece from Reading will release their new single ‘Hold the Line’ on 28th May. The band consists of Tom Farrelly (lead vocals/guitar), Cams Jurasek (lead guitar/backing vocals), Rob Jacques (bass), and Sam Waugh (drums).

Even though the bands’ sound is indie rock based, it’s clear that there are other influences at work. These include Motown and blues, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen. These inspirations create a soulful sound with big, polished production.

‘Hold the Line’ is about finding a deeper understanding in people who we don’t agree with. About moving past individuality and embracing other people’s views. The soulful vocals are anthemic and boost the song’s appeal. While the production is some of the cleanest I’ve heard this year because the instruments have space to breathe. They remind me of Springsteen at his finest because I can see this band getting a crowd going.

‘Hold the Line’ is a captivating song because it inspires the listener to make a difference. I can’t wait to see what Third Lung do in the future.
