Track Review: Luka / Prove Yr Humanity // th’sheridans

I’ve been listening to th’sheridans for years. Their ability to craft banger after banger is quite astonishing and relatable in modern times. Especially songs like “I Don’t Want to Be Dismembered” that song was on repeat back in 2020. They are back with new music, which is always exciting to hear.

The first song is a cover of Suzanne Vega’s “Luka.” Having not heard the original song in a long time, I got reminded about how summery and feel-good it is. This version is faithful to the original, too, with big indiepop guitars and a pulsating bass synth which dominates. The vocals are beautiful as well. I love indiepop covers of pop songs because they remind me of Indietracks.

The second track, “Proving Yr Humanity” is a beautiful stripped-back song that th’sheridans do very well. It is very folky, raw, and vulnerable.

I really enjoyed these two tracks, and it is great to see th’sheridans back!
