Track Review: Teeth / Why Do I Bother // Mary Hennessy
Mary Hennessy released “Teeth” earlier this year. It has a strong synth lead which is reminiscent of Stealing Sheep, and This is the Kit. With lyrics of aching vulnerability and delay-laden guitars, this is the sound of the summer. It is a record where you can sit back and eat ice cream. A big tub of ice cream. The production on this song is very off kilter, but it works like a charm.
Hearing this and her other songs like “Why Do I Bother”, I think that this is a singer with unbelievable potential. I really like how vulnerable this is, and it is so pretty. The vocals shake like a tree, and the guitar shakes too, coupled with the fast drums that get you dancing.
Both the songs are wonderful and add colour to my evenings. I hope they add some colour to yours too.
