Sham Chewali is back with a brand new single, ‘Yer Not Wrong.’ He’s an experimental folk artist based in Bury, who creates dark moody songs. ‘Yer Not Wrong’ is a great song because it shows Chewali isn’t confined to one genre. This is important because it shows he can attract a larger fanbase.
I think that ‘Yer Not Wrong’ is a solid track because the sparse instrumentation and the guitars in a minor key create a dark atmosphere. I think it reflects what a dark year 2020 has been, and the emotion in Chewalli’s voice is obvious in the chorus when he sings: “Yer not wrong, you just like being right too much.” The piano plays a big role because it helps bring out the moody impact. Then the slow drums come in, creating a fluid pattern. It’s really beautiful, showing of his disctinctive sound.
The music scene is one of the main things I love about the North. It brings out so much creativity, and in Sham Chewali, another rising star who has a big future ahead of him.
